v1.0: Introducing Next Identity
After more than two years of development, we're excited to offer the first public release of the Next Identity platform.
About Next Identity
Next Identity enables complex global enterprises to govern customer identities at scale.
The Next Identity platform connects hundreds of enterprise consumer web and mobile applications with tens of millions of consumer identities through a single integration layer designed to meet complex data privacy, security, and operational requirements while providing developers with scoped APIs and customizable hosted identity journeys to deploy fast, stay secure, and engage customers.
Next Reason also offers service packages designed to meet the operational needs of the most complex global customer identity management requirements including 24 x 7 support, architecture, engineering, and other professional services.
Our initial v1.0 release includes the following:
Core
In addition to supporting OIDC, OAuth 2.0, and PKCE out of the box, Next Identity Core delivers standard features available to all Next Identity customers.
In addition to an API-first architecture enabling developers to customize their integration to the enterprise customer data service, Next Identity provides a full-featured hosted user journey experience, helping developers achieve fast time to market, critical customer data security requirements, and compliance with enterprise service governance. Use cases such as registration, invitation, reset password, edit profile, log out all sessions, and other journeys are supported out of the box with data validation, error messages, security, and performance already built-in—with the Next Identity Brand Factory extension enabling developers to design the front end according to enterprise branding requirements, and the Localization extension enabling translation of the user interface and notifications into many different languages.
Next Identity is launching with a full-featured API designed to handle a significant number of customer identity use cases.
Next Identity features a comprehensive approach to customer identity and platform security. Our initial release includes the following:
-
Perimeter Security: Web application firewall (WAF) tuned to monitor common identity threats, as well as deep rate limiting options for each client integration
-
Form Security: Protection against common scripted attacks on all registration, login, activation, and other forms with verification challenges presented when potential threats are detected
-
Business Continuity: Flexible options for rapidly deploying the Next Identity platform in other regions—and even on other cloud hosting providers—in the event of a critical infrastructure failure, helping your business stay resilient.
Extensions
Extensions are features that provide additional functionality to the Core platform.
Next Identity supports Email + Password, Mobile Phone Number + Password, and One-Time Password (OTP) authenticators—in addition to 2-Step Verification—out of the box.
Mitigate common credential stuffing attacks by preventing your customers from using previously-stored passwords—improving customer account security and protecting your brand.
Complex global enterprises typically have many brands and sub-brands with varying design requirements. The Brand Factory extension supports multiple theme packages enabling developers to theme Hosted Identity Journeys within enterprise guidelines while still taking advantage all the features and functionality offered by Hosted Identity Journeys.
Global enterprises operate in many markets with varying language and localization requirements. Next Identity supports the translation and management of hundreds of strings and notifications used across customer journeys.
Progressive Profiling
Enable your customers to use a single identity to log into multiple applications and reduce registration friction, but also prompt your customers for additional data needed by another application with different identity requirements if it’s not already included in their user profile.
Consent Manager
Achieve complex privacy and compliance requirements by prompting your users to accept the terms and conditions and privacy policy relevant for each of your applications (and locales) and prompt users to accept updated legal agreements upon the next login when the versions change.
Security Question & Answer
Challenge your customers to answer security questions when creating their accounts, and provide your customer support team with a way to verify identities.
Marketplace
The Next Identity Marketplace connects your customer identity service with third-party vendors to connect to data warehouses, leverage existing contracts with SMS or transactional email platforms, or enrich customer data.
Next identity offers native support for using mobile phone numbers as a primary customer identifier. With SMS Pro, enterprises can easily integrate Next Identity with their own preferred SMS vendor.
Next Identity operational readiness and 24 x 7 global support
In addition to launching v1.0 of our software built on our next-generation cloud infrastructure, we're also launching 24 x 7 operational support backed by our global team delivering platform, security, and support engineering.
